Categorism focused on targeting people with accusations of being a witch, or of harming people through supernatural means such as magic or demonic powers. Although this may target anyone, including self-identified witches, the most common targets seem to be African children. (In Swedish: häxparanoia)

In itself, this is a focus of categorism, a targeting focus within the categorization focus known as religism. However, it is often a part of an intersectional foci, where a certain category of people is accused of witchcraft. Classical targets are women, children, Jews and "gypsies" aka Romani.
