In the system of Apartwelt, some citizens are constructed as superior to others (or as "more equal than others", as the case may be). One of the ways in which this is reflected by language is that we have two different words for people who move from one country to another:
- Expat: Person from a high status country moving to another country.
- Migrant: Person from a low status country moving to another country.
