Not conforming to traditional categorizations and expectations, especially regarding gender and sexuality. To be non-queer is not only to conform to the norm of being categorized as heterosexual and as either male or female - but also to conform to a complex, yet arbitrary and changing-over-time, set of norms for what sexuality means and what it means to be male or female.
